Hendon secured a welcome first win in eight match on Tuesday evening as they eased past Cray Valley Paper Mills 4-1 to start their London Senior Cup defence.

Gary McCann's side last tasted victory when they beat VCD Athletic 3-1 on October 17 and have suffered seven consecutive defeats since.

However, they returned to winning ways at Silver Jubilee Park on Tuesday evening with goals from Sam Murphy, Ollie Sprague, Aaron Morgan and Leon Smith securing their passage into round two.

That tie, against the winner of Greenhouse Sports and Croydon, will take place on December 9.

Hendon were beaten 3-1 at bogey side Tonbridge Angels on Saturday in the Isthmian Premier Division, leaving them just a point and two places clear of the relegation zone.

Thomas Parkinson put the hosts ahead after 32 minutes, heading in from Nick Wheeler's cross.

Kezie Ibe restored parity just two minutes later, beating the offside trap and rounding the Angels keeper to slot home.

But Nathan Elder met another Wheeler delivery with his head to put the home side 2-1 up three minutes before the break.

Tommy Whitnell added a third just after the hour mark to send the Greens to another defeat.

Hendon host Burgess Hill Town on Saturday before going to Farnborough on Monday.
