Barnet have made Matt Stevens, previously a target for Manchester United and Manchester City, available for transfer after he turned down two new contract offers.

The 17-year-old striker, who is still only a second year scholar, was subject of a £250,000 offer from Premier League side Swansea City. Crystal Palace have also expressed an interest.

Stevens scored 57 goals last season as the Bees' Under-18s won the Football League Youth Alliance South East division.

Bees head coach Martin Allen has stated on numerous occasions the teenager is part of his plans for the first team but he has made two substitute outings in the league.

There has been a clamour from Bees supporters to see more of the teenage forward, who joined the club two summers ago from Reading.

He became Barnet's youngest player at the age of 16 when he was introduced as a late substitute against Alfreton Town in September 2014.

Speaking in September last year, Allen said: “He is still young enough for our Under-18s.

"Matt won’t be going out on loan because he is knocking on the door of the first team.

“There has been a lot of media coverage on Matt because he scores goals. He came on as a sub at Leyton Orient and we have had him in and around the first team this season."
