Haris Bandey has experienced competing in the biggest multi-sports show on earth after taking part in the 400m freestyle at the Olympic Games.
The 17-year-old Barnet Copthall swimmer, who was representing Pakistan, finished third in the first heat of the event on the first full day of competition at Rio 2016 yesterday.
Although Bandey’s time of 4.33.13 was the slowest of all 50 competitors in the event, the young East Finchley sports man now has the memory of competing at an Olympics to look back on.
The Olympic 400m freestyle title was won by Australia's Mack Horton (3.41.55) with Britain's James Guy (3.44.68) finishing sixth in the final.
Bandey’s club-mate Gaurika Singh has already made history at these Games before she enters the pool tonight in the heats of the 100m backstroke.
At just 13-years-old, Singh is the youngest competitor in Rio and the teenager, who is representing Nepal, is due to take part in the first of five heats at 5.02pm alongside two rivals from Kosovo and Samoa.
