Barnet have refused to rule out a move for League Two hot-shot Omar Bogle, after being linked with the 23-year-old Grimsby striker's signature.
The Bees already have the division's second-highest scorer in the form of 15-goal John Akinde, but national press reports have suggested they are eyeing up a cut-price January move for Bogle, who leads the charts with 16 strikes in 19 games.
A reported fee of £250,000 for a player with his best years ahead of him and on an increasingly upward spiral - with 61 goals for Grimsby and Solihull Moors in less than two and a half seasons - would seem below the mark, but when contacted by the Barnet Times the Bees refused to deny their interest in the player.
A club spokesman told the Times: "Of course, he is a very good player but our dealings with other clubs are kept confidential so we cannot confirm the story.
"However, we have had a lot of injuries this season and it is generally known that we are looking to strengthen our squad with two or three key players in key positions."
