Barnet have had an undisclosed bid for Macclesfield midfielder Danny Rowe rejected, the Barnet Borough Times understands.

The Bees have made efforts to bring the 24-year-old to The Hive to strengthen their wide options, after losing Luke Gambin to Luton yesterday, but have this week seen a first bid rejected by the Silkmen.

It is not clear whether the Bees will return with another bid for Macclesfield's most prized asset, who has attracted plenty of attention from other Football League clubs since the transfer window opened.

He has also been linked with a move to League 1 Port Vale, as well as Premier League-chasing Derby County - and the Silkmen are said to value the player at around £100,000.

He has been in fine form in the National League this season, scoring six times in 23 starts - including a solo stunner you can view below.

Rowe has three goals in his last seven games in all competitions.
