Niko Muir showed why he's been raising eyebrows in pre-season with a hat-trick for Hendon in their 3-0 win over Enfield Town last night.
The striker netted his first league goals of the campaign at Silver Jubilee Park as Gary McCann's men claimed their opening victory of the season against their London rivals.
He raced to a 19th-minute brace following two fine moves in the home midfield, before Enfield were given the chance to halve the deficit from the spot.
But Tom Lovelock planted his spot kick into the arms of home goalkeeper Drew Roberts, before Muir showed the Enfield man how it was done with a third goal on the break.
That comprhensive victory followed a penalty miss of Hendon's own on Saturday in their 1-0 loss at Tonbridge Angels, a side who have proved a bogey team for McCann and his men in recent meetings.
Matt Ball beat home goalkeeper Jonathan Henly but also the goal with a second-half spot kick, won by Zak Joseph, as it rattled the bar and rebounded to safety.
Hendon were made to pay for that miss when a swift break from the hosts ended with former Brentford forward Nathan Elder firing home what would prove the winner with 13 minutes to go.
