Ben Spencer is confident Saracens’ positive attitude will see them to a win over Northampton Saints at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday.

With four Aviva Premiership ties remaining in the season, Sarries currently hold one of the two home semi-final spots in the table in second place, eight points behind Exeter Chiefs, while Saints are struggling in tenth.

But Spencer believes that the mentality the men in black have exhibited in training will be enough to push on for the top spot, despite the mounting pressure.

“All the lads have come in raring to go this week and are ready to get stuck into the Premiership,” said the 25-year-old.

“I think we have just got to take every game as it comes, keep turning up to training and trying to improve day-in, day-out – hopefully, the results will take care of themselves.

“If we come in with the attitude of always wanting to get better, it can only individually and as a team get us into the right position.”

Saracens’ last Premiership clash was against Harlequins in March where they recorded a 24-11 victory over their rivals.

And Sarries have enjoyed three wins over Northampton Saints in all competitions this season, scoring 174 points in the process, but Spencer refuses to let this successful record affect his preparation.

“We know the rivalry that is there and just because they have had a shaky season does not mean they are not going to turn up on Saturday wanting a scalp,” he said.

“We have got to prepare as well as we can for the test that is coming as we know it is going to be a tough game – there is no doubt about it.

“We have had a few good results against them this year and hopefully, we will get another one at the weekend.”
