Saracens boss Mark McCall is wary of the threat Bath will pose on Sunday.

With Sarries lying eight points adrift of Aviva Premiership leaders Exeter Chiefs, losing is not an option at Allianz Park if they want to finish top of the table.

The memory of Bath’s 31-21 victory over them last September has not yet faded for McCall, and he admits his side need to be vigilant to overcome their challenge.

Under Todd Blackadder, Bath have won four league games on the road, but their current eighth-place standing reveals their inconsistency.

“They’ve been a little bit like other teams… a little bit inconsistent,” he said.

“All season they’ve produced performances that have been good; they beat Toulon at home and they’ve had some really strong wins on the road.

“I remember watching them on the road at Worcester (46-25 win) recently and Leicester (27-23 win) at the start of the season.

“They have some phenomenal players and on their day they’re a match for anybody.”

Bath have only made one change to their side on Sunday, with Tom Ellis replacing the injured Matt Garvey at blindside flanker.

For the home side, veteran USA international Chris Wayles will hope to mark his 250th Sarries appearance with a win, having made his debut ten years ago as a replacement against Sale Sharks.

Similarly, Sarries have only made one change to the team that beat Northampton Saints last Saturday, with Richard Wigglesworth reinstated at number nine.

Dominic Day and Schalk Burger also feature, while Maro Itoje and Blair Cowan are being rested.

Unfortunately, Billy Vunipola is still on the sidelines with a broken arm, while Vincent Koch has not recovered from an ankle injury.
