With a semi-final spot secured Sean Maitland has warned the rest of the Premiership that Saracens have not hit top form yet.

The versatile back has helped Sarries to two comfortable wins in recent weeks as they made sure of a spot in the top four.

Now, with two games left to play of the regular season, Maitland wants to ensure Saracens book a home semi-final and they can do that with a bonus-point victory at nearly-relegated London Irish on Sunday.

“There’s potentially four games left and it’s crazy how fast the season has gone; it’s been a great one so far,” he said.

“As a team we’ve talked about how there is still a lot more of our game to grow.

“We’ve had two big wins in a row, but we know we haven’t peaked and there’s a massive focus on trying to get better every week; the leaders in the team and the coaches are definitely driving that message to all the boys.

“We want to finish on a massive high now we’re in the semis; to get that home semi if we beat London Irish is going to be massive for us.”

The Scotland international played for London Irish during the 2015-16 campaign before sealing his move to Allianz Park.

And despite their current plight at the foot of the Premiership table, he has nothing but positives to recall from his time in Reading.

“Hopefully I’ll get a friendly welcome back,” he added.

“They’ve got some quality players and they’ve been so competitive this year and most of the games they’ve lost have been by ten or under.

“Going to the Madejski is going to be tough and we know it’s going to be a difficult task.”
