Barnet youngster Danny Hart put the seal on a comfortable win at Harlow.
The winger struck with a long-range effort in the closing stages, as the Bees saw off their hosts 4-1.
The match saw the debut of new signing Nicky Deverdics, a former Gretna midfielder. He was a second-half substitute.
Barnet started well and were ahead after just seven minutes, Adam Birchall converting a spot kick.
But Harlow refused to sit back and equalised on 35 minutes, only for Albert Adomah to restore the lead just before the interval.
Luke Medley scored his first goal for the club midway through the second half, before Hart capped a satisfactory night for the Bees.
Barnet fielded a strong side, with trialist Daniel Alowsi the only starting player not to have worn the amber and black last season. Joe Devera and Ashley Carew, carrying slight injuries, were rested as a precaution.
The Bees travel to Northwood this evening, before hosting League One giants Leeds United this Saturday.
