Finchley Racing got off to a good start in the Eastern Region League on Sunday.

At the Crest Road Race, over 72 miles, all of Finchley's seven riders were involved in breakaway attempts. However, all these attempts were nullified by an attentive main bunch, and a bunch sprint finish looked to be the outcome, when two riders escaped to hold a 20-second lead to the finish. Finchley's Trevor Burke showed what might have been by decisively winning the bunch sprint, with new member Nigel Stephens in fifth.

Finchley Racing finished in second place in this competition in 2009, and so are aiming to go one better this year.
