Wingate & Finchley played home to Maldon Town on a windy day, as the club looked to continue their fine form which has seen them in contention for the play-offs.
In the 21st minute McLachlan cleared the ball of Wingate’s goal-line, as Maldon went on the attack.
Mid-way through the first-half, Fowler latched onto the ball following Smith’s run but he shot over the goal.
In the 33rd minute, Jeffries ran down the wing and shot wide of the goal as Maldon went on the attack again.
Wingate started the second-half well, with a shot being blocked as the ball made its way towards the Maldon goal in the 58th minute.
In the 78th minute from a Fowler freekick the ball found its way to Chase who shot straight at the Maldon keeper as Wingate continued to dominate. Shortly afterwards a neat pass by Carvalho let Laird through but he shot just wide of the Maldon goal.
Edgerley’s cross was headed towards the Maldon goal by Laird and saved in the 84th minute as Wingate tried to find a goal in a dominant second-half display.
Wingate travel to Ilford on Wednesday in their next league match.
