Hendon: Barnet performance was 'not acceptable'

Some dubious refereeing decisions took some of the heat off the Barnet players on Saturday.

But boss Ian Hendon described his team's second-half showing as 'not acceptable'.

The Bees contrived to throw this one away.

"The players should be very down after that performance. It was not good enough," Hendon added. "I said at half time that the game was there for us to lose, and we certainly did that."

Two red cards, two penalties (one saved) and a disallowed goal made for an eventful game.

Barnet thought they had taken the lead when Micah Hyde headed home an Albert Adomah cross, but, much to the confusion of everyone, the linesman flagged and the goal was ruled out. It was the first of a number of controversial moments.

However, there was no argument when Accrington keeper Ian Dunbavin saw red on the half-hour after felling Adomah. It was a certain penalty and John O'Flynn duly obliged from the spot to give the hosts the lead.

Against ten men, Barnet should have put the match to bed, but plucky Accrington continued to make a game of it and were rewarded with an equaliser on the hour, Phil Edwards heading home from a corner.

The Bees had now lost their way big time and Stanley were themselves were awarded a spot kick when Clovis Kamdjo, who made a mess of a clearance, clipped the heels of Billy Kee ten minutes from time. There was no doubt it was a penalty, but the red card for Kamdjo appeared a little harsh.

However, keeper Jake Cole pulled off a brilliant penalty save to deny Edwards and most thought Barnet had got away with it.

But, with six minutes to go, Kee cracked home a deserved winner, even though the hosts were adamant the striker was offside.

To rub salt into the wound, manager Hendon was then ordered off. The unhappy boss said his only crime was leaving the technical area to pull one of his complaining players away from the linesman.
