Barnet winger Mark Marshall is hoping his late equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Bury on Saturday will kick-start the Bees' season.
Despite the draw - a big improvement on the previous weekend's shock 7-0 defeat at Crewe Alexandra - Barnet remain bottom of League Two and still looking for their first win.
But Marshall, who came off the bench to score against the Shakers, is hopeful it can lead to better things.
Marshall struck in the 75th minute, direct from a free-kick 25 yards out.
It cancelled out a Ryan Lowe strike early in the second half.
The new signing said: "It was not one of my best free-kicks, to be honest, but the main thing is that it went in.
"Now we must kick on. This kick-starts our season and shows the character of the boys. We could have let our heads drop after going one down."
Marshall added: "It's always good to score. I didn't know how to celebrate. I was ecstatic.
"The boys are happy. It could have been a defeat."
Boss Mark Stimson said: "Mark Marshall does practice them in training. It was not a fluke. It was a great finish.
He praised all his players.
"Full credit to the players. They are an honest bunch of lads to work with. They've all gone out there and done a shift."
Barnet host Cheltenham Town this weekend and Stimson said star striker Steve Kabba could be available again after injury.
However, he this week strengthened his squad with the signing of Sutton United striker Charlie Taylor.
The 24-year-old, who has played at Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest as a youngster, has been on trial at Underhill.
He could come straight into the side against the Robins.
