A depleted Hendon side were comprehensively beaten 38-10 at home by Harlequin Amateurs in Herts Middlesex League One.
The hosts came under pressure straight from the kick off and after just five minutes Quins managed to break through and open up a seven point lead.
Hendon fell further behind when the visitors' number ten kicked over a long penalty which moved the score to 10-0.
Hendon re-arranged their front row to help stabilise the pressure which allowed possession and for the next 20 minutes midfield play ensued.
Then a lapse in defence was capitalised by Quins for an easy try and home side were 17 points down at the interval.
The second half went much the same way as the first with Harlequin adding another score.
But from the restart a defensive mistake from the visitors in midfield was gathered by JP Cremin. He found Steve Brady on the wing who ran in a corner try and Hendon were on the scoreboard.
Quins continued to dominate and scored regularly but Hendon fought on and got the last try of the game from a rolling maul which lead to Paul Kerrigan scoring.
On Monday and Wednesday Hendon are hosting a Barnet Schools/Saracens-inspired youth rugby tournament for Year 7s and 10s. The competitions are the commencement for Hendon’s new Youth Rugby initiative.
More than 200 participants are expected at the inaugural event and for more information contact David Gershlick on 07860 487 072 or email david.gershlick@middlesexrugby.com
