Hendon extend FA Cup run after replay win over Eastbourne Borough

Hendon progressed to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup for the fourth year in a row after a 2-1 win over Eastbourne Borough.

Not only did the Greens defeat a club from the level above, but they did so despite going a goal behind, and losing a man to a red card early in extra time.

After a goalless 90 minutes, Hendon suffered a setback in extra time when Darren Lok opened the scoring. Just two minutes later it got even worse when Scott Cousins was shown a straight red card.

But the hosts were rewarded with a 109th minute equaliser after Michael Murray was fouled in the area.

Murray stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the tie. Hendon grabbed the winner when the ball reached Isaiah Rankin in the area and he fired an outstanding into the back of the net. The side will travel to Histon or Corby Town a week on Saturday.

Hendon managed a 2-2 draw in their FA Cup tie at Eastbourne Borough on Saturday.

Greg Ngoyi gave them the lead before Chris Shephard equalised. Within 60 seconds Ngoyi added his second of the game but Shephard salvaged a replay for Eastbourne.
