Director of rugby Mark McCall says Saracens are in control of their group after 30-13 win over Racing Metro
8:40pm Saturday 20th October 2012 in Sport By Tom Allnutt
Director of rugby Mark McCall hailed Schalk Brits' "amazing" performance and believes Saracens are now in control of their group as the Men in Black beat Racing Metro 30-13 in the Heineken Cup.
The five-points haul eluded the Men in Black but two wins from two games, including a bonus point victory over Edinburgh last weekend, puts Saracens in a commanding position to qualify for the knockout phase.
McCall said: "If you win 30-13 against a side as good as Racing I think you have to be reasonably satisfied.
"I think we went through everything emotion today - there was some outstanding stuff by us in the first half and some pretty frustrating stuff in the middle 20 minutes of the second - but to come out of that four points to nil keeps us in control of things in our group.
"Nine points from the first two games is a pretty good return."
Saracens were impressive in the first half and Brits was influential throughout, beautifully setting up the first try of the match scored by Chris Wyles.
The South African hooker was replaced in the second period however and his absence tied in with a lull in Saracens' performance.
"Schalk had an amazing first half and questions will be asked why he came off," McCall said afterwards.
"It's a philosophy we have at the club, we've got outstanding players on the bench and we use them and we'll continue to do that."
