His appointment was met with mixed reaction from Barnet supporters but Martin Allen admits he feels comfortable wherever he is in charge.

Allen returned for a third spell in charge of the Bees in April and his task was to keep the club in the Football League.

His first two matches have seen a heavy defeat against Southend United followed by a 4-0 victory against AFC Wimbledon.

The win against the Dons was his first home match since his reappointment but there were no noises of discontent from the stands, just supporters backing their side.

When asked how he felt returning to Underhill, Allen said: "I feel comfortable wherever I am really. I was looking forward to the game, I slept well and was looking forward to watching the players play.

"This is not about me. It is about the players and this football club - nothing to do with me.

"It’s about trying to get the players to play well and give the supporters something good to see on the pitch.

"And that’s why against Southend United it hurt me because we didn’t do ourselves justice. But against AFC Wimbledon it was good for everybody.

"But we have got one more challenge to face so on we go."

Victory against Wimbledon was Barnet’s first home win since the end of January.

It rounded off what has been a disappointing campaign at Underhill where the Bees have won just six matches and have failed to replicate their performances from on the road.

However, captain Mark Hughes was pleased the players rounded off the home campaign in style.

“We haven’t won at home in so long we really wanted to give the fans something to cheer.

“To go home 4-0 winners in the last home game of the season will leave them happy. So we didn’t just sit back and defend after that second goal which was really pleasing.”
