Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers women's team have won promotion to the Premier Division of the UK women's athletic league.
The group went to Leigh near Manchester full of expectations and the squad responded as they have all season. The match result was close with Trafford winning with 208.3 points. Thames Valley Harriers were second and Barnet were third with 204 points.
Shereen Charles won the 200m with a time of 25.46 while Tara Kafke came first in the 400m (54.66). Nina Anderson topped the V40 400m in 58.39 and is ranked first in the UK for her age group this year.
Philippa Aukett won the 800m in 2.10.8 and also the 1500m in 4.36.67 while Amy Campbell was first in the 800m after a time of 2.11.73 and the 1500m (4.30.60). Beth Potter won the 3000m in 9.35.81 and set a league record in the 2000m steeplechase in 6.52.41.
Victoria Webster landed a win in the 3000m with 10.07.96 and Shadine Duqemin was first in the Under-20 discus in 45.95. Double wins in the relay secured promotion as Shereen Charles, Nadia Williams, Kafke and Emma Ania clocked 48.73 in the 4 x 100m event. Kafke, Aukett, Anderson and Ania helped the 4 x 400m relay win in 3.51.4.
Shaftesbury's men were not to be outdone as they claimed victory in the Premier Division match at Copthall Stadium.
There were wins for Kris Robertson in the 400m in 47.06, Rick Ward in the 800m (1.53.32) and John Carr in the long jump (7.33). Dan Bramble won the long jump in 7.19 while Nathan Fox came out on top on the triple jump with a distance of 15.90.
Daniel Lewis won the triple jump in 15.28 and Zane Duqemin was first in the discus (57.96). Allan Scott, Moses Arthur, Justin Geohagan and Confidence Lawson won the 4 x 100m relay in a season's best 41.17.
Equally impressive with a season's best of 3.12.30 was the 4 x 400m relay of Romeo Sithole (50.1), Robertson (46.9), Scott (49.1) and Seb Rodger (46.2).
