Barnet boss Mark Robson believes his side will take 'valuable lessons from Watford defeat

Mark Robson hopes his Barnet side will take “valuable lessons” from their 8-0 defeat against Championship side Watford.

The Bees were well beaten by the Hornets in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their London Colney training ground this afternoon.

Watford raced into a seven goal lead before the break as Jonathan Hogg, Joe Garner, Nyron Nosworthy, Almen Abdi, Mark Yeates and Sean Murray (2) all netted.

Chris Iwelumo rounded off the scoring in the second period.

The match was organised in order to boost the fitness of both sets of players ahead of the forthcoming season.

Speaking to the club’s website, Robson said: "We didn't look as sharp as we have been throughout pre-season and we can learn some valuable lessons from this game.

"We need to look at how we press the opposition as a team, rather than individually, something that Watford did very well today."

He continued: "The second half looked a lot better and we defended well as a team. Some changes were made by both teams and we made sure that we made it harder for them. It certainly gives us lots to think about for the immediate future".
