Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall lauded his side's impressive second-half display following their 78-7 win over London Welsh on Saturday, admitting they could have cruised after the break.

The Men in Black were in a ruthless mood against bottom-of-the-league Welsh at Allianz Park and led 38-7 at the interval, with McCall encouraged by his team's determination to score as many points as possible.

Speaking to the club's website, the Ulsterman enthused: "It is a job well done. It was a clinical performance and sometimes when you have got what you want at half-time it is easy to take your foot off the gas and do the wrong things.

"The second half was probably better than the first half today and we scored some really good tries. We were thrilled to get the five points and a bit of confidence from today."

There was special praise too for Owen Farrell, who kicked 23 points for the Wolf Pack: "I thought he looked really sharp today," said McCall.

"He made good decisions and passed the ball really well. He placed kick well and had a great game, as did a lot of people.

"Chris Ashton scored a try in the first half and set a few up in the second half as well, and was a really good team man and was very unselfish. They both had phenomenal games for us today."

Richard Wigglesworth (3), Mako Vunipola (2), Brett Sharman, George Kruis, Chris Ashton, Jackson Wray, Ben Ransom and Richard Barrington scored the tries, with Farrell converting ten and kicking a penalty.

Wing Jack Wilson has left Allianz Park to join South African outfit The Sharks and will immediately join up with the Durban outfit's Super XV squad.

The 25-year-old, who scored six tries in 19 outing for Saracens joined the club in December 2012.

McCall said of his departure: "Jack has made an excellent impression, but he would like to return to the southern hemisphere and seize this opportunity in South Africa. Our policy is always to align the interests of the club with the interests of the player, and we will not stand in his way."

Wilson added: "I have had a fantastic time at Saracens, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to be part of this special club."

Sarries travel to Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, December 27 (kick-off 3pm).
