Alex Goode and Jamie George made their Rugby World Cup debuts as England ended a disastrous tournament with a ten-try, 60-3 win over Uruguay.
The Red Rose, already out following last weekend’s 33-13 defeat by Australia, cruised to victory at Manchester City FC’s Etihad Stadium.
There were hat-tricks for veteran Nick Easter and young Exeter Chiefs wing Jack Nowell whilst Anthony Watson scored a brace and Henry Slade also crossed the whitewash for the tournament hosts.
Head coach Stuart Lancaster, whose job will now come under review at the RFU, had named a much-changed line-up for the Pool A dead rubber.
Goode and Mako Vunipola were handed their first starts of the competition whilst Owen Farrell switched from fly-half to inside centre.
Young hooker George, who only won his first caps ahead of the tournament, Richard Wigglesworth and George Kruis all came off the bench for England.
