Maro Itoje has been handed his first England call-up as one of eight Saracens players in Eddie Jones' first England squad.

The lock, 21, is called into the Red Rose squad for the first time after impressing former Sarries coach Jones, who succeeded Stuart Lancaster following England's disastrous World Cup showing.

Also included from Saracens are Chris Ashton, recalled after being left out of the World Cup, Jamie George, George Kruis, Mako Vunipola, Billy Vunipola, Alex Goode and Owen Farrell.

Jones has named seven uncapped players in his 33-man meet up squad which will get together in preparation for the Six Nations which begin with a clash against Scotland on February 6.

"We have selected a squad of players who we think can go to Murrayfield and win,” said Jones. “This is our number one priority, to start with a win, so we have picked a squad which is a mix of experience and potential.

“The long-term strategy for England is to develop a side who can be the most dominant team in world rugby, so we have chosen a lot of new players on the growth we see in them."
