Saracens coach Mark McCall hailed the performance of Alex Goode after the full back produced a brilliant first half display as Saracens came back from 14-7 down to score three tries in 15 minutes to beat Worcester 43-19 in the Aviva Premieship at Sixways.

Goode had a major hand in three of Saracens' first half tries before he was taken off two minutes into the second half to be rested ahead of next weekend's European Champions Cup final.

McCall said: "Alex was rested last week but he was outstanding today and he's been the best full back in England for some time."

Saracens scored six tries in total with Samu Vunisa, Neil de Kock and Ben Ransom getting one each but Chris Ashton was the hero with a hat-trick.

McCall said: "Chris will think he could have scored five but he will go into next week's game full of confidence."

Charlie Hodgson completed the scoring with five conversions and a penalty and as a result of the bonus point win, Saracens finished top of the table at the end of the regular season and now face Leicester at Allianz Park in the semi-final in a fortnight's time.

"We've led the Premiership for three out of the last four seasons," added McCall.

"To get 80 points, without our internationals (who were) away for such a long period is a tremendous achievement but the best is yet to come as we have a young squad.

"Last week we played poorly in the first half against Newcastle but we were impressive today."

The only downside for Saracens was an injury to scrum half De Kock.

"The only drawback was the loss of De Kock with a minor hamstring injury and it would be cruel if he can't be involved next week," said McCall.

Worcester coach Dean Ryan accepted his side had been out-gunned with their tries coming from centre Andy Symons, who leaves for London Irish next season, and Cooper Vuna.

He said of Saracens: "They are an outstanding side, we struggled with their power and we need to increase depth in our squad if we are going to improve.

"For the 15 minutes before half-time we were nowhere near, we struggled with our kicking game and kept feeding Alex Goode and we never laid a hand on him."

Ryan also admitted the differences between the standard of the Saracens squad and what he has at Worcester provided him and the club with food for thought ahead of next season.

He said: "It's a stark reminder of the top and where we are. We have to bring more power into our squad."
