Watford Borough Council

Watford Local Plan 2018-2036 Consultation On Proposed Main Modifications To The Submitted Watford Local Plan June 2022

The Watford Local Plan sets out a growth strategy for the borough that includes detailed planning policies and site allocations for new residential and non-residential development. These policies will inform planning decisions in ways that will positively manage change up to 2036. If adopted by the Council, the Local Plan will replace Watford's Local Plan Part 1 -Core Strategy 2006-31 (2013) and the Watford District Plan 2000. Following the submission of the draft Watford Local Plan to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government for Examination in Public on 6 August 2021, the Plan was subject to scrutiny by an independent Planning Inspector at a series of public hearing sessions held in January and February 2022.
As a result of these hearing sessions, the Council has proposed modifications that are considered necessary to make the Plan sound. These form the Schedule of Main Modifications that has been agreed by the Inspector as being satisfactory for consultation. These modifications are proposed without prejudice to the Inspector's final conclusions which will take account of all the representations submitted in response to this consultation. A Schedule of Additional Minor Modifications has been published alongside this consultation. These are mainly minor grammatical, wording or factual corrections and are not considered necessary to make the Plan sound. These are provided for information only and any comments on these will be dealt with internally by the Council and will not be sent to the Inspector. Please note: This consultation is limited to the Schedule of Main Modifications and associated consultation documents. These can be viewed on the Council's Local Plan website (

www.watfordlocalplan.co.uk

). It is not an opportunity to comment on other aspects of the submitted Local Plan or re-submit previous representations, as these have already been considered by the Inspector as part of the Examination hearings. This consultation will run for six weeks between Thursday 9 June 2022 and 5pm Thursday 21 July 2022.
Hard copies of the Schedules of Modifications, and the Sustainability Appraisal will be made available at locations across the borough, a full list of which are below.
