Notice Pursuant to Regulation 16 of The Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 that:
1. On 6th March 2018, the London Borough of Barnet adopted aMembers'Allowances Scheme for the year the period 1April 2018 to 31 March 2019, the main features of which are:
(a) An annual basic allowance as set out in the table below will be paid to each Councillor.
(b) An annual Special Responsibility Allowance will also be paid to those Councillors who have special responsibilities in relation to the posts specified in the table below; the amount of each such allowance shall be the amount specified against that special responsibility in the table. Each Councillor shall receive only one Special Responsibility Allowance at any one time, even if they are entitled to more than one such allowance.
(c) The reimbursement of travel and subsistence expenses incurred in respect of attendance at meetings, training, conferences and other non-political events undertaken outside the Borough boundaries (as specified in the Scheme) may be claimed by Councillors and co-opted members;
(d) Councillors with dependant relatives and children may claim an allowance of £7 per hour for a maximum of 8hours forthe expenditure they incur fortheir care whilst undertakingapproved duties;
(e) An allowance of £127 shall be paid to co-optees to formal Council Committees. The amounts of allowances payable pursuant to the Scheme are:

2. In making the scheme, the Council had regard to the recommendations contained in the report of the Independent Panel on the Remuneration of Councillors in London which was commissioned by London Councils. This reported in January 2018 and the key recommendations of the Independent Panel are summarised below. The Special Responsibility Allowance ("SRA") is in addition to the Basic Allowance.
