The latest Lexus hybrid hits the streets of north London in time for Christmas.

Arriving in December at local retailer Lexus Edgware Road, the new GS 300h is powered by the 2.5-litre Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain delivering CO2 emissions from 109g/km* and combined cycle fuel consumption of up to 60.1mpg*.

The first time Lexus has offered two hybrid powertrains within the same model, the new GS 300h combines an electric motor with a new 2.5-litre petrol engine. As with all Lexus hybrids, the new GS 300h is a full hybrid that can be driven in petrol or purely electric modes alone, as well as a combination of both. Clever technology includes channelling the energy from braking to recharge the hybrid system battery so plug-in charging is never required. At rest the engine automatically stops to conserve fuel. All of which combines to create a vehicle which looks and drives like a premium model but has the fuel economy and emission levels associated with a smaller car.

The GS’s comprehensive array of active, passive and preventive safety features is further extended, with addition of a Rear Cross Traffic Alert, alerts the driver to vehicles approaching from either side when reversing out of a parking space.

The GS 300h will be a hot contender for business drivers looking for a head-turning executive vehicle without the accompanying higher Benefit in Kind (BIK) brackets and Band B Vehicle Excise Duty more typical of its conventionally powered counterparts.

Lexus Edgware Road will have demonstrators available to test drive from December and first deliveries will be made to customers in January.
