Nursery founders say they cannot wait to start spending their winnings after coming first in a community competition.

Last month, Times Series and Harrow Times teamed up with The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware, to launch their new Community Health Fund Campaign.

The campaign, which gives Edgware-based groups and charities the chance to win £500, aims to improve services in the area and in turn improve the health and wellbeing of the people that use them.

Following a public vote, the campaign’s winner has now been announced as the Kool Kidz Nursery, in Steam Lane, Edgware, which was established in 2004 by Adie Landsman and Marion Rhodes.

Adie Landsman said: “It was absolutely exhilarating to hear that we had won the competition.

“We are very proud of all our children, and all of us are so pleased to have won and receive the £500.

“We would like to say a big 'thank you' to The Broadwalk Centre for initiating this fabulous scheme and to everyone who voted for us. We really appreciate your support.”

The holistic nursery aims to use the £500 prize to improve its outdoor area with the addition of a new agility course, which aims to help motivate the children to physically challenge themselves in a safe environment.

Mrs Landsman added: “With the money, we will be building up our existing outside space with this new agility course which all our children will be able to access and enjoy.

“We decided on the agility equipment because it will help our children, who all have a varity of different skills, push themselves but also have fun.”

The nursery, which is now breaking up for summer, hopes to have the course set up this Autumn.
