Music - Classical & Opera

Be prepared for lovely tunes and dramatic music in our Spring concert to mark the beginning of the new decade!
Sibelius’s Suite Pelléas et Mélisande is best known for its opening movement “At the Castle Gate” which has been used for The Sky at Night since its first broadcast in 1957, just a few months before Sibelius’s death. Bruch’s Romance for viola was written towards the end of his life and brings together his complete craftsmanship for gorgeous melody and enticing harmonies. Our soloist is Alvin Huang, a 17 year old from Latymer School who was the winner of this year’s Enfield Young Musicians’ Concerto Audition, sponsored by Enfield Music Service. We shall conclude our Spring concert with Beethoven’s 1st Symphony which is our contribution to the many celebratory performances this year which is the 250th anniversary of his birth.
