A new thriller has been launched at a Barnet library after its author raised £500 for library funds.

Creative writing tutor, Sandra Turner launched her book A Grave Mistake at Friern Barnet Community Library.

Sandra Turner, from Finchley, has been involved in the community through volunteering and raising money at the library alongside running a weekly mental health support group for seven years.

As a library volunteer, Sandra took a creative writing course where she developed her first novel.

Now that she has published her own works, she has been teaching creative writing workshops at Friern Barnet Community Library.

Her first published work was a series of short stories titled “11 Stories on the Go”.

Her newest book 'A Grave Mistake' is a thriller.

Book launch attendees were able to get their copy signed by Sandra.

As a keen volunteer and severely sight impaired author Sandra is also passionate about raising sight loss awareness and mental health.

She also co-facilitates a weekly mental health support group with her partner.

On her new career, Sandra said: “Never give up on your dreams, no matter how rocky the road or how old you are, mine are the reason I’m where I am today.”
