An art competition is returning for a second time after a successful inaugural year.

The second Whitefriars Art Competition is a free-to-enter competition for Sixth Form age young people in Harrow. Winners will receive a cash prize of £250 plus £250 worth of art products, and £100 cash plus £100 worth of art products to two runners-up. The school, college or organisation that submits the most entries will also win £250 worth of art products.

The shortlisted artworks will be exhibited from March 19 to 29 at the Whitefriars Gallery in Harrow.

The competition is now open for entries, with the submission period closing on Sunday, February 16.

Sixth formers can each submit up to two artworks. These can be from their existing portfolio, and there is no given theme.

The competition is being run by artists at Whitefriars Studios, many of whom give their time on a voluntary basis. It is supported by sponsorship from Culture Seeds, a Mayor of London grants initiative supporting local community-led cultural projects in the London Boroughs. It is part of the Mayor of London’s Strategy for Culture, Culture for all Londoners. It’s part of the Mayor’s ambition to put culture at the heart of local communities.

The competition is set up to give a boost to local sixth form age students, giving them a platform for their work and helping to kickstart potential careers.
