2016 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition
The world’s biggest photography exhibition opens this week, showcasing the winning and shortlisted photographers from submissions to the World Photography Organisation, from across all disciplines including fine art, photojournalism and lifestyle. The winners were chosen out of 230,103 entries from 186 countries, a 33 per cent increase in submissions from last years’ competition.

Shakespeare’s Birthday at National Theatre
To conclude the celebrations at The National, associate director Dominic Cooke, of the BBC’s The Hollow Crown – The Wars of the Roses, will be discussing how the idea of Shakespeare as our contemporary has been absorbed into culture, the impact in on modern productions and also what the future holds. He will be joined by his colleague, deputy artistic director Ben Power, who adapted Romeo and Juliet and The Comedy of Errors for the theatre and wrote the screenplays for two series of the BBC’s Shakespeare films The Hollow Crown, clips from these productions will also be screened.

Another World: Losing Our Children to Islamic State
Over the past 12 months headlines have been dominated by the growth of Islamic State and terror attacks claimed by IS have spread across the world. Writer Gillian Slovo spent many months conducting interviews with people either affected by IS or fighting against it to create a verbatim documentary theatre piece that answers some very important questions.

This is a story about a ten-year-old boy whose new best friend is a robot after losing his former playmate in a terrible accident. Things get more and more strange and you may well find yourself questioning everything you know. This family-friendly show enables parents and children alike to feel comfortable and confident with the idea of joining in.

London Marathon
Watch as around 38,000 people take to the streets of London to run more than 26 miles. Runners of the 26 mile race purposefully write their names across their tops so that you can cheer them on as they go and they will happily accept sweets and orange slices to help fuel them. The route runs through Blackheath, Woolwich, Greenwich, The Tower, The Isle of Dogs, London Bridge and finishes at The Mall.
