Discover Children’s Story Centre, Stratford, will host an exhibition inspired by the treasured children’s books from acclaimed author Judith Kerr. The Tiger Who Came to Tea and the Adventures of Mog the Forgetful Cat will open to the public on Saturday, February 16, and run until September 2019.

The immersive 3D exhibition will take visitors through a giant catflap and into the world of Kerr’s cherished characters including Mog the Forgetful Cat, Katinka, and of course the very hungry Tiger Who Came to Tea. Guests will have the chance to explore Mog’s home and garden, find the crocodile under the bed and take part in numerous activities throughout their journey including designing a medal for the best cat in the show and hunting the hidden bunnies.

The exhibition, which features 14 books by the incomparable Kerr, will also give visitors an insight into the author’s fascinating life, and the inspiration behind her beloved books.

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

Judith Kerr says: “I first told the story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea to my daughter long ago, and later, when she and her brother were both at school, I thought I would make it into a picture book. To my amazement it did well enough that HarperCollins wanted me to do some more books, starting with one about Mog – and they have continued to publish my stories ever since. It never occurred to me that fifty years later there would be an exhibition about my work, but I hope you enjoy the world of my books as much as I enjoyed creating them.”

Karla Barnacle-Best, Chief Executive of Discover added: “Discover is honoured and excited to be creating an exhibition based on Judith’s wonderful work. She is an incredible author with a rich array of timeless classic family favourites. They are the perfect tales for what will be an extraordinary exhibition that will surprise and delight visitors of all ages.”
