Next weekend will see the first London Wildlife Festival at Walthamstow Wetlands take place from Friday, August 9, to Sunday, August 11.
Curated by London Wildlife Trust and David Lindo, The Urban Birder, the London Wildlife Festival will be the capital’s largest ever event dedicated entirely to the extraordinary nature and wildlife on its doorstep. To be held at Europe’s largest urban Wetlands, Walthamstow Wetlands, an amazing 211 hectare nature reserve with 10 stunning reservoirs.
The weekend will be filled with fun activities for the family all inspired by nature and conservation and a diverse program packed full of talks and immersive workshops. Whether you’re a keen nature enthusiast or looking for something a little bit different this summer, there will be something for you.
During this two-day festival there will be a variety of activities including outdoor yoga, haiku in nature, natural balm making, bird ringing demonstrations, phone-scoping, willow weaving workshops, and many more.
There will also be a huge list of speakers who will be holding talks on various conservation and wildlife themes including David Lindo (The Urban Birder), Patrick Aryee (TV presenter and biologist), Lorienne Whittle (Woodland Trust), Peter Cranswick (Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust) and Vicky Wilkinson (ZSL).
In addition, there will be a number of stalls and stands for food, drink, fashion, books, music, binoculars, art and more.
Tickets are priced at £10 per adult and £6 per child - as always, all proceeds from ticketed events are invested back into the running of Walthamstow Wetlands, the conservation work and continuing free public access to the Wetlands.
