On Sunday, August 18, at 3pm, Tom Winpenny, Assistant Master of the Music at St Albans Cathedral, will give an organ recital on the cathedral’s renowned Harrison & Harrison organ.

His programme includes works by Mozart, Pachelbel and two jazz-inspired pieces by distinguished British composer Peter Dickinson and American composer Henry Martin. Also included is an atmospheric piece by celebrated French composer Olivier Messiaen.

Andrew Lucas, Master of the Music, said: “Organ music continues to play an integral part in the life of the cathedral. These Sunday recitals, given by the cathedral’s resident organists, provide the opportunity to hear a full-length organ concert demonstrating the versatility the cathedral’s wonderfully restored organ in some of the greatest works of the organ repertoire.”

The recital will last around 60 minutes, and a retiring collection will be taken towards the work of the Cathedral Music Department.
