Yesterday the cuts to the arts was announced. So how did the theatres in the area fare and will they still be here next year?

Finchley arts venue artsdepot has retained its Arts Council England funding until 2015, it was announced this week.

artsdepot will receive £301,027 next year, followed by £300,000 for 2012/13, £306,900 in 2013/14 and £314,879.

During the financial year 2010/11, the venue received £323,337, but despite the decrease the announcement is good news for the venue, which opened in 2004. There had been fears for its future following Barnet Council’s recent decision to withdraw grant funding.

artsdepot chief executive Tracy Cooper said: “We are delighted to receive national portfolio status, which allows us to look forward to a bright future for artsdepot.

"We are pleased the Arts Council has acknowledged artsdepot as a vibrant, valued and successful venue, allowing us to maintain our integral role in the local community.

“We are grateful to the Arts Council, as this decision allows us to confidently plan for artsdepot to remain a vital part of north London life."

Other north London venues to learn their fate this week include Jacksons Lane in Highgate, and the Hampstead Theatre, which will both see slight decreases in Arts Council England funding, and Camden Arts Centre, which will receive a 27 per cent increase over the next four years.
