A bomb scare brought a busy Hendon street to a standstill yesterday evening.
Explosives officers were called to Brent Street shortly after 7pm where a suspect package was reported at the junction with Green Lane.
More than ten police officers and a specialist unit closed Brent Street and erected a 100 metre cordon around the bag, containing bottles of liquid wrapped in tape.
Closer inspection by the bomb squad revealed the package contained bottles of lemonade, one with a blue light inside, wrapped in sticking tape.
The incident caused severe disruption to traffic and pedestrians before the cordon was lifted shortly after 8pm.
Police say they are not treating the incident as a hoax.
