A Mill Hill man was among three jailed after pleading guilty to a series of crimes.

George Gormley, 21, of Gilda Court in Watford Way, was sentenced to 33 months in prison on Friday after pleading guilty at Wood Green Crown Court to two assaults and two thefts near Pentavia Retail Park in Mill Hill on the same day.

Jamie Foskett, 20, of Luton, was also sentenced on Friday to 12 months in jail for assault and shoplifting, along with a third youth who received nine months in a youth offenders' institute for breaching his community order and two counts of shoplifting.

In the afternoon of Wednesday February 13, Gormley, Foskett and the third youth were twice captured on CCTV, stealing bottles from the drinks aisle of the petrol station in Pentavia Retail Park..

Between these incidents, Gormley and Foskett assaulted a 16-year-old boy in Watford Way. Gormley punched the youth twice in the head and Foskett also stuck the young man, leaving him with cuts to his forehead and left eye.

At about 6.30pm, Gormley assaulted a man in Watford Way who was walking home. In the completely unprovoked attack, Gormley struck the man from behind and knocked him unconscious, leaving him with swellings to his neck, ear and jaw.

The three fled when police were called. Officers searched the area and Gormley's flat where they found spirits stolen from the petrol station in Pentavia Retail Park. All three men were arrested.

PC Adam Saggers said: “This was a series of nasty, unprovoked and cowardly attacks. It was fortunate that none of the victims received more serious injuries.

“Thankfully the prompt arrival of officers brought this crime spree to an end and these young men now face the consequences of their criminal behaviour.”
