Bargain hunters queued up to be among the first customers of a new British Heart Foundation store in Finchley.

The Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Brian Schama encouraged shoppers to take a look inside the electrical and furniture store in High Road today.

The store has everything from sofas, chairs and dining sets to beds and wardrobes as well as electrical items including televisions, washing machines, fridges and dishwashers.

Mira Palmer, BHF area manager, said: “All the money raised from sales helps to fund the BHF’s life-saving work – in the last year the BHF was able to fund a number of heart health initiatives including ten Heartstart Schemes, a Heart Support Group and a Healthy Heart Grant in the Barnet area.

“We’re still in need of more  donations and are appealing to everyone in the local community to have a root around their home and donate any unwanted items. We offer a free collection service for larger household items so having a clear out has never been so easy.”

To book a free collection of your items visit bhf.org.uk/free or call the store on 0844 848 9625.
