Hundreds of runners and cycling enthusiasts completed an off-road adventure to raise £50,000 for a charity supporting people with learning disabilities.
Nearly 500 people participated in Norwood’s annual junior bike ride and duathlon on Sunday.
Families got on their bikes, setting off on either a five or ten mile route from Haberdashers Aske’s Boys School in Elstree.
Eight-year-old Akiva Ehreich and his father Daniel, from Hendon, cycled the ten-mile off-road course, raising £600 for Norwood.
Akiva, who goes to Menorah Foundation School in Edgware, said: “It was so much fun and very hard. I am proud that I managed to cycle ten miles and raised a lot of money for Norwood. I can’t wait to take part in next year’s ride.”
Every rider received a certificate and medal congratulating them on finishing the race and helping raise money for the charity.
Sinead Grimes, Norwood’s events and challenges fundraiser, said: “Norwood’s Junior Bike Ride and Duathlon provides a great opportunity for families to get fit and have a fun day out whilst raising money for a great cause.
“I’d like to thank and congratulate everyone who took part in the challenge. The money they raised will help so many people who are supported by the charity.”
