Tottenham have confirmed the appointment of Franco Baldini as their new technical director.

The 52-year-old Italian left a similar post with Italian giants Roma earlier this month and it is believed he will take charge of Spurs’ scouting and transfer policy.

Baldini will know the Premier League well having served as Fabio Capello’s assistant manager during the latter’s stint as England manager.

Reports had surfaced in September last year that the former Roma general manager had rejected the job but it seems he has since changed his mind.

Speaking in May about the potential appointment, manager Andre Villas-Boas said that a technical director was “something that I am used to working with”.
