Neighbours are being encouraged to meet new people and clean up their community this Sunday.

Mill Hill Residents Association is asking people to don gardening gloves and arm themselves with bin bags in a bid to keep Mill Hill tidy.

There will be special certificates for child helpers and the residents association is organising free face painting and fun fair stalls such as hoopla and splat the rat. There will also be tea and coffee and other refreshments.

Committee member of Mill Hill Residents Association Julie Tucker said: “This will be a great opportunity for people to meet representatives of the residents association and find out how they can join and get their voices heard on the issues that matter to them.

“It will be a fun afternoon for children and a chance to get together as a community and make the area we live in a better place.

“We’re hoping the litter pick will make people think twice about throwing litter away – Mill Hill can get very untidy especially around the A41.”

The litter pick will start at 2pm in Mill Hill’s small village green at the bottom of Lawrence Street.

The initiative is backed by Barnet Borough Council, who will provide bin bags.
