A pensioner was punched and kicked after he told a group of teenagers to stop throwing sweets at passengers on a train.

The man, from Cricklewood, was on a First Capital Connect train going towards St Pancras at the time of the attack.

He saw a group of four or five teenagers throwing sweets at other passengers but when he intervened, he was punched in the face by a 16-year-old boy.

And as he left the train, he was punched and kicked by other members of the group of four or five teenagers.

Police investigating the assault have today released CCTV images of one person they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

The victim had some bleeding to his face and was taken by the London Ambulance Service to University College Hospital but was later discharged.



One 15-year-old was arrested at the scene, but has since been released.



Sergeant Mike Boyce, who is investigating the attack, said: “This was an unprovoked and malicious attack, and the level of assault is shocking.



"Officers are now taking all steps in their power to identify those responsible.



"If you recognise the people pictured, or witnessed what took place, I would urge you to contact us immediately."

It happened on Thursday, December 19 at 10.38am.
