Film buffs will find it easier to follow in the footsteps of stars who strolled down the town’s streets thanks to a new guide.

Elstree Screen Heritage has released the glossy guide to the Film and TV Heritage Trail to celebrate 100 years since the first studio was built in Borehamwoood,

Winding through the town from the station to the top of Shenley Road, 23 panels honour the actors and studios that earned Borehamwood its moniker of “Britain’s Hollywood”.

The plaques were installed in 1996 with money from the British Film Institute.

With the help of the new guide, visitors can now brush up on Barbara Windsor as they stand near Borehamwood Station, and later learn about Vivien Leigh's links with Glenavon Avenue.

Directors including Stanley Kubrick, George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg are also featured.

Free copies can be picked up from the Elstree and Borehamwood Museum in 96 Shenley Road from the town council offices at Fairway Hall or from the civic offices of Hertsmere Borough Council.
