Householders in Finchley have been told to stop using their water supply while a burst main is fixed.
Water was sent gushing down Hendon Lane when the pipe burst in Fitzalan Road during rush hour this morning.
Affinity Water has sent engineers to the street but has asked customers to stop using washing machines and dishwashers until the problem is fixed.
A statement on its website said: “Our technician is now on site and has assessed the burst; a repair team have been called, and are on route to carry out the necessary work in order to restore supplies to normal.
“During this time we ask you not to use any electrical appliances, that require a water supply, like washing machines or dishwashers, and to conserve water from storage tanks during the time your water supply is interrupted. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
