The biggest change to the electoral registration system in nearly 100 years is happening in Barnet.
Voters will begin receiving letters about the new system, to tell them whether they need to re-register under the new system.
Individual electoral registration abolishes the head of household rule meaning each voter has to sign up separately.
More than 80 per cent of people on the current register will automatically be added to the new system, but others will be asked to provide extra information.
