The shadow education secretary praised the success of an Edgware school.
Tristram Hunt MP visited the London Academy, in Spur Road, Edgware, on Tuesday night for a wide-ranging question and answer session with teachers, school governors and parents.
Speaking after the meeting, he said: “The London Academy is proof of the success of the previous Labour government and tonight I outlined the priorities in education for the next Labour government.
"In London and Barnet in particular we are in desperate need for school places and that is why we will devolve decision making on new schools away from Whitehall to tackle the huge pressures on school places.”
Labour GLA member for Barnet and Camden, Andrew Dismore, who chaired the meeting, said: “It was great to welcome Tristram to Edgware and to show him one of the success stories of the previous Labour government – the London Academy. And it is especially exciting to see the school grow with the new primary school due to open next September.”
