University students showed what robots they built could do at an international competition.

Engineering students at Middlesex University, in The Burroughs, Hendon, took part at the World Skills National Competition in Birmingham.

They programmed their robots to complete tasks such as navigating through a maze.

Meliha Beglerovic and Mehnaz Mahaboob navigated their way to gold, with Eva Blessing Onyeulo and Joslyn West scooping silver, and Luke Bennett and Mohd Fadzli Bin Zainal Abidin earning bronze.

Middlesex University professor of design engineering Mehmet Karamanoglu said: “Our student teams demonstrated an excellent level of skill to complete the challenges.

"I would like to congratulate our medallists and everyone who took part."
