A gang of five men were today sentenced to a total of 26 years for a smash and grab raid on a designer clothes shop.

Kavosh Jalali, from Crescent Way, Finchley, was part of a gang that used two cars and three scooters to smash through the door of Louis Vuitton in Sloane Street, Kensington, in the early hours on June 26, 2014.

They made off with designer handbags, belts and purses worth more than £70,000 but were arrested by the Met’s Flying Squad in Islington shortly afterwards.

David Kelly, 30, of Moray Road, Finsbury Park, was sentenced to seven years while his brother Alan Kelly, 21, of the same address received three years and six months.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Ellen from the Metropolitan Police's Flying Squad said: "This audacious theft was shocking to both staff at the store and passing motorists. Thanks to the flying squad the gang were quickly identified and arrested and an amount of goods recovered."
