A Barnet MP called on the Prime Minister to increase counter-terrorism funding to protect Jewish community buildings.
Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer told David Cameron during Prime Minister's Questions yesterday that 120 community buildings were at risk of an attack similar to those in Paris last month.
He said: “Will he [the Prime Minister] commit to looking at creating a counter-terrorism fund to help maintain the security measures at these community buildings?”
Mr Cameron replied that the schools security grant would be maintained, and that Education Secretary Nicky Morgan was due to meet the Community Security Trust – a Jewish security charity – to see what could be done to help Jewish independent schools.
He added: “In my view, we need to do everything we can to help this community feel safe and secure in our country. I would hate it for British Jews not to feel that they have a home here in Britain—safe, secure and a vital part of our community.”
